The DIY lemonade stand for kids, designed with a business model based on inspiring children to be independent and entrepreneurial thinkers. This was a personal project completed during my coop at HH Global.

Kidprenuer Inc. Lemonade Stand

In recent years, there's been a growing acknowledgment of the vital role played by entrepreneurial skills in children's development. Studies, such as those conducted by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, suggest that early exposure to entrepreneurship can profoundly impact future success, with individuals who start businesses at a younger age more likely to achieve higher levels of education and career satisfaction. But can we ensure that this journey is accessible to all while nurturing creativity and innovation? Join me as we explore the possibilities of cardboard-based entrepreneurship, utilizing its affordability and versatility to empower young minds and lay the groundwork for the leaders of tomorrow.

Competitive Analysis.

The Solution: a cardboard kid-friendly DIY building kit.

A cardboard DIY product outshines the competition for several reasons. Unlike plastic alternatives, the stand is made from eco-friendly cardboard, ensuring durability while also being recyclable. Additionally, it goes a step further by incorporating customization options, promoting creativity and personal expression. Unlike more expensive kits that focus solely on play, this product provides an inexpensive and unique educational opportunity. In essence, our cardboard DIY lemonade stand offers a winning combination of affordability, sustainability, creativity, and educational value that sets it apart in the market.

Ideation.

Beginning with exploring different concepts through sketching- focusing on corrugated cardboard material for its strength, lightweight nature, versatility in shaping, cost-effectiveness, eco-friendliness, and customizability. Landing on the idea of a lemonade stand as the first product.

Developing the Structure.

Beginning with creating 2D fold up concepts in ArtiosCAD, then cutting those pieces using the Zund Cutting Table. Deciding on using mainly C Flute corrugated cardboard for its strength. Scroll Below for the analysis of these three main prototypes.

Concept 2: The fully colorable and customizable DIY “Made by You” Lemonade Stand.

Concept 3: The classic predesigned quick and easy DIY Traditional Style Lemonade Stand.

Final Construction.

Prepping art files in photoshop and illustrator, one board with the main structure, and one with the stools and accessories. Printing on the Roland UV printer.

Gluing the pre-positioned glue flap design, aligning the creases exactly for easy gluing in mass manufacture.

Programming the artwork to line up with the final dieline on the Zund cutting table, marking creases, cuts and perfs and marking the C flute corrugated material.

Marking the table to lineup with the printed board, allowing for a bleed for ink consistency, using only two boards making cost extremely low.

The final printer products are shown above, the other pieces were plain board, saving cost.

Final Product in Action.

Testing the ease of use for children, allowing them to take the lead while I observed.

More Pictures in Action!

Starting off with the accessories, they each added their name and decided a price together.

Creating the seat was fairly easy for them and the stools proved strong and sturdy to hold their body weight.

The main build required them to look at the instruction sheet, but it remained in tact after transporting.

The shelf and top counter had strength to hold everything they wanted from toys to actual ingredients and their earnings.
